The BAFFFL ScapeGoat

Ladies and gentlemen of the BAFFFL, as you may know, when I joined this league just a year prior I jumped in head first. So in my boredom my mind naturally drifted to fantasy football and the BAFFFL. I thought to myself, everyday during the week I spend countless hours reading 'expert' picks of who to play and who not to. While often times these picks are painfully obvious (and at other times they are just absurd) I think each of us just likes a little backup for our decisions. Will we ever admit that we only played a person who got 40 points because The Talented Mr. Roto had in his "love" section? Probably not. But would we curse his name and lay 100% of the blame on him if our player got 0.3? Absolutely.

So if you are still reading this you may be thinking, so what? What is your point? Well if all these other assholes make their fantasy predictions why can't I? Hey, at the very least you could have another person to blame for your fantasy shortcomings.

So here is my first crack at what may be a monumental collapse, but what the hell? I call it the ScapeGoat, and I will release it before the Love/Hate each week! (Hopefully)

Week 2 Monsters: here are a few guys you were going to start anyways, but I am calling to be in the top 5 scorers.
Rodgers' EX Girlfriend.

  • Aaron Rodgers: Did you see the game against the Saints? Rodgers had 25 points in the first quarter. And lets be honest, the Panthers are no Saints.

  • Peyton Hillis: I know, I know, he didn't do much against the Bengals, but even I could have had 10 fantasy points against the Colts. Ben Tate and injured Derrik Ward combined for 25 points and it could have easily been more. Ive it to the big man and watch him work. I fully realize this one could blow in my face, but hey gotta show some gusto in your first blog.

Blame Me Picks: Have a couple of decent players that you cant decide on? Try one of these guys and blame me if it blows up in your face
  • Lions Defense: Hey did you think you would read this without seeing the Lions somewhere? Well here they are. WOW were Chief's bad last week, flat all around while on the other hand big bad Blount was stuffed. Give the Lions D a go, or think about the Giants at home against a banged up St. Louis team.
  • Plaxico Burress: Not only can he shoot himself in the leg, but he can get some real quality targets at big points in the game. I also think LT could be a good Jets start (Shonn Green is turrible)
  • Santana Moss: Rex Grossman actually looked pretty good, and I hate Rex. With Timmy Hightower providing some run support the Skins should be able to keep the Texans guessing.
  • Tony Romo: He blew the game against the Jets. But luckily fantasy isn't about if your player wins or loses, but how many points he gets. Romo still had a good fantasy day against a stifling Jet's defense despite a fumble and a handful of picks. Next week he faces the 49ers, watch how quickly everyone forgets last week when Romo drops 30.

Piners: Bench these guys, you may be tempted to play them but just don't do it
I want this jersey
  • Steve Smith: I know. He snagged a bunch of points last week, but I can't get on the Newton bandwagon just yet. With almost no semblance of a running game and the Packer's D? Steer clear.
  • Anyone on the Seattle Seahawks: Maybe the NFL should relegate teams to arena football...

Madden Cover Curse: I don't suspect to be right often (if ever) on this one, but here is my prediction for the big time player who is going down this week. Superstars, be warned...

Cam Newton: Who saw that coming last week?? Cam absolutely exploded on his NFL debut, but he has yet to be struck by karma; and let's be honest, the Pack has that  whole "wraith of god" fury behind them. Does anyone besides me remember Cam's actions at University of Florida? How about his Dad and all the bribes? Newton, I got a feeling you and your whole family are going down....but I gotta study.

Ryan Taube has no connection to football other than a TV and gets advice from a Jewish football guru. He will likely not even follow his own suggestions.

  1. Hey I'm gonna put up a link to this on bafffl.com, so you'd better put up AT LEAST one post a week. Pressure's on now motherfucker.

And no, you're not the only one who remembers Cam's actions at Florida (the whole laptop thing). I remember hearing about that in 2008, when Florida had to kick him off the team and nobody knew who was gonna replace Tim Tee-bro (since that was supposed to be Cam). I guess they STILL haven't really replaced him, since John Brantley is currently nothing to write home about.

Lastly, I agree about LT being better than Shonn Greene. WTF man. All of a sudden that pick in our draft doesn't seem quite so stupid. It's still stupid, don't get me wrong, but not AS stupid anymore.
